Artist Statement
From my earliest memories, I wanted to be an artist. At age 15 my first formal art class was a transformative experience. Suddenly a whole new world of paint and graphite and ink were available to me and I dove in. At university I studied graphic design, psychology and art history. For the following four years I put off making art and when I finally began again it was a huge release for me. I suddenly felt free to explore my inner mind and did so with a fervor that hasn’t let up. Since 2007 I have worked in several different mediums, taking classes to grow my knowledge base and meet other artists. Now I understand how vital making art is and I know that in one way or another I will be making art for the rest of my life.
